MacJournal - A Test Run with Blog Spot

This app is proving to be awesome. I can keep a personal journal and post selected entries including pictures to my blog and also share on Flickr. The app was a little pricey..$30 I think. It will also email and post to Twitter and Facebook as well. The post below this one (as well as this one, of course, was done that way. Down side to publishing straight to blog from the MacJournal is there is no way to edit size or position of the photo…that I have found anyway. So just so I don’t waste a perfectly good post. Here’s another Artist Trading Card I did for the Cups project on Wet Canvas.

More ATC's - Cups Project on Wet Canvas

There are 12 people in this project so I painted 11 cups. This is one of them. Done with Daniel Smith Watercolor. Size of course is 2 1/2” x 3 1/2”. This one is named simply “Strawberry Cup”

A Piece a Week 2013 Challenge: Week 1

**2013 Challenge**

Rita at is hosting a facebook page with a new challenge of completing one project a week.  So one of my New Years resolutions is to give myself more time for my artwork... this fit right in.  She has links to the facebook page and the flickr group she set up for the challenge on her blog.  Already lots of beautiful work posted.  Check it out!

Below:  This is my Week 1 Project. It serves a dual purpose. Not only will be my first project of the challenge but is for a Fabric ATC swap I am hosting on Swap-Bot. I used a very festive Mardi Gras print and did some free motion quilting in gold thread. The applique is a piece of lace, a translucent plastic butterfly attached with gold seed beads. The black trim also attached with seed beads and foil flowers with, again the gold seed beads as the centers. This is only my second fabric ATC and I was very pleased with the very festive look to start out the new year.

More Artist Trading Cards - ATC

This was done for a Georgia O'Keefe swap on Swap-bot.  Atlanta businesses plant thousand upon thousands of these in thier office parks this time of year.  Wish I had time to put a few in my little garden!
The one to the right was a still life painted also for a Swap-Bot swap. I really like to paint flowers :-)

Artist Trading Cards !

Been awhile since I posted.  Last May my husband was diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome) and it's been a super busy time with taking care of his special needs and continuing to work full time.  MDS is a cancer of the bone marrow and short of a transplant, there is no cure.  Chemo, blood transfustion due to red blood cell depletion and a constant critically low white blood cell count requiring lots and lots of cleaning/disinfecting house time.

Anyway, due to this issue, my "me" time is almost non existant!  I've gotten back in to doing the ATC's (Artist Trading Cards) because they are small, portable projects.  I can work on them at breaks at work, without it drawing much attention, on the kitchen counter while cooking meals, sitting in doctor's office and the infusion center, hospital rooms...Welll you get the idea!

This is one I did for a "Trees" ATC swap on Swap-Bot.  It is watercolor and completely from imagination.

I've joined several more swaps on Swap-Bot and a larger project on Wet Canvas, so I've got 'em lined up to do for my "diversion".  I have several more ready to go just waiting on partners to be assigned, so I hope to get them here on my blog as well.

Strawberry Binge!!!!!

Have been painting Strawberry Themed ATC's and journal pages.  Just seems to be all that wants to come off the brush!  This one is ATC size, watercolor pencils.  It's named "Kitty's Home!"
Strawberry Pot - Watercolor Journal.  Also done with Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils

Final Strawberry Binge!  I'm trying to paint a little looser.  I really like the background on this one.  This is for a Journal Tip in Page for a swap on Swap Bot.  It is done with Winsor Newton Watercolors.

Love me some Strawberries

Inspiration from recent Watercolor Secrets newsletter. I've been trying to do some art journaling of late. More relaxing to do since it's done for me and not to please anyone else

It was done on my outdoor studio over this beautiful weekend!
